Justin Counts is entering his eighth season as a coach with the Warhawks’ varsity team ... Serves as the team’s pitching and third base coach ... This past year, was named the Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) East Region assistant coach of the year ... Has helped develop dozens of college ballplayers during his time at Madison ... A native of Vienna, he was a three-sport standout at George C. Marshall High, where he was a four-year starter on the baseball team, an all-state and All-Met pick by The Washington Post as a senior in 1992 ... Later played at the University of Virginia, where he was a two-year captain, earned All-ACC honors as a junior and led the Cavaliers to the ACC championship as a senior ... Played in the New York Yankees’ system prior to joining Madison’s coaching staff ... Warhawks have compiled a 135-36 (.789) record since he joined the staff in 2000 ... Resides in Arlington with his wife, Jean, the head varsity girls lacrosse coach at Oakton, and his five children: Wiley (age 8), Casey (6), Cameron (3), Paige (2) and Aubrey, who was born last November.
