Matt grew up playing baseball in Vienna Little League at all levels. Since Little League he has played three summers for the Vienna Mustangs and has played in AAU and CABA national tournaments. He attended the Auburn team camp with the Warhawks.
At Madison, Matt was a freshman starting pitcher and first baseman for the 2005 District Champion JV Warhawks. He hit a home run against Woodson's JV team as a freshman. Matt joins the varsity Warhawks as a sophomore corner infielder, and pitcher. He could also see time as an outfielder. Matt has the tools to be an excellent pitcher and hitter and gives the Warhawks outstanding depth in 2006. He has a bright future as a Warhawk.

Matt's Baseball History
Matt's thoughts on the Season: "I think we will have a solid season and we will play at full potential everyday! N.F.W.U.B."
Coach Gjormand on Matt: " Matt is a first-year varsity player. He is a right-handed pitcher and corner guy who has great power in his bat. I love the way this kid competes. He has a warrior’s mentality and comes to get after it every day. On the mound, he has very good pop for a sophomore. I really like watching him bow his neck and get after hitters. At the plate, he swings the bat well and has good juice to all fields. He will drive in a ton of runs before he leaves Madison, and will have some opportunities to do so this year. He is working hard at both corner positions and will get comfortable in due time."
