Three Year Varsity Warhawk

Joey started playing baseball in Reston and then began playing in Vienna at a young age. He played Vienna Little League in the Twins organization and was all-star each year. Joey was a key member for the 13 year old Vienna Mustangs and returned as a 14 year-old captain  to help lead the team to a sixth place finish in the AAU National Championship in Orlando, FL. He played with the Vienna Mustangs in the Old Dominion League the past three seasons and played in the 2004 National High School Summer Tournament in Louisville, KY  and in the 2005 CABA 18U World Series in Miami, FL.

At Madison, Joey played for the Warhawks JV team as a freshman third baseman. As a sophomore Joey joined the varsity and was a member of the 2004 Liberty District Champions. He showed outstanding hands as a third baseman making excellent plays in several Warhawks victories during his sophomore season. Joey played both third base and first base as a junior and will play  second base as a senior. Joey has been a good leader as the Warhawks look to come back strong in 2006.

Joey's Baseball History

Joey's thoughts on the Season: "We ride ."

Coach Gjormand on Joey:  "Joey is a three-year letterman for the Warhawks and has grown into a reliable leader for us this off-season. Joey had a good junior year for a very young and average Warhawk team. He has worked incredibly hard since the end of last season and is in the best shape of his life. Because of his off-season program, Joey gives us the option of playing him anywhere in the infield, and if necessary, could even run down fly balls in the outfield. He brings a bat with good juice to the middle of our lineup and I expect him to have a great year for us. Joey has committed to play baseball at Shepherd University beginning this fall."
