Chris Marinak Assistant Coach

Chris Marinak joins the Warhawks coaching staff after previously coaching at Mills Godwin, another fine Virginia baseball program based in the Richmond area. Chris helps Justin Counts with the Warhawks pitchers.
Chris enters his first season as a pitching coach at Madison. Prior to joining the Madison staff, Chris lived in Richmond and was the Pitching Coach at Mills Godwin High School for 3 seasons from 2003-2005. While at Mills Godwin, Chris helped guide the Eagles to 2 Colonial District championships, 3 Central Region tournament births, and an appearance in the state tournament. The 2005 Eagles finished the season with a 23-1 record and #12 national ranking in the Baseball America High School Poll. While at Godwin, Chris coached several outstanding pitchers including Matt Moses who now plays for the Minnesota Twins (1st round draft pick, #21 overall in 2003), Justin Bristow who plays collegiately at Auburn (22nd round draft pick Kansas City Royals in 2005), and Graham Stoneburner (Clemson signee, 2006 Top 100 HS prospect Baseball America).

Chris is a native of Virginia Beach where he attended Frank W. Cox High School from 1994-1998. He holds 3 varsity letters in both baseball and basketball, and was named to the All-Beach District and All-Eastern Region teams as a pitcher. Chris was a member of the 1996 Cox High School State Champion team and the captain of the 1998 Beach District Champion team. Chris went on to play collegiate baseball at the University of Virginia where he was a closer for the Cavaliers from 1998-2002. He was selected as team captain for his senior season.
Chris holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Virginia and currently works as an Operations Analyst at Capital One in McLean, VA. He lives with his brother Kevin in Arlington, VA. Chris is an outstanding student and has been accepted to attend the Harvard Business School next year. We are happy to have Coach Marinak helping the Warhawks and congratulate him as he pursues his MBA next year.
