Third Year Varsity Warhawk

Alex began playing baseball in Vienna at age 5. He played in the Mets organization in Vienna Little League and was a two-time All-star. Alex has played for the Vienna Mustangs since he was 13.  Prior to high school he played on the 16U Mustangs and played in the Cocoa Beach, FL Tournament.  The last two summers he was the regular catcher for the Old Dominion League Vienna Mustangs and had an excellent tournament in Louisville, KY  in 2004 helping the Mustangs to a 3rd Place finish in the Summer High School Tournament.  He helped the Mustangs to an excellent summer and finish in the CABA 18U World Series in Miami, FL in 2005.

Alex made the varsity as a freshman and won the confidence of the veteran players with his  defensive work as a member of the 2004 Liberty District Champions. He is an excellent receiver and was the starting catcher as a sophomore.  He hit .320 as a sophomore and consistently came through with runners in scoring position. He now returns as a veteran catcher and will be counted on to handle the 2006 Warhawks pitching staff.  He is one of the best catchers in the Northern Region and is looking to have a strong  junior season. Alex's brother  Chas was a Warhawk in 1998.

Alex's Baseball History

Alex's thoughts on the Season: "With our continuous hard work throughout the off-season and a chip on our shoulder from last year, we will finish what we start."

Coach Gjormand on Alex: "Alex  is a three-year varsity player who returns for his junior year after having a very successful sophomore year behind the plate in 2005. I expect Alex to improve on last season after a very intense off-season. His maturity and leadership will be key for us to achieve our goals. I expect he will prove himself to be one of the top catchers in Northern Virginia throughout the season."
