Chris began playing baseball at age 4 and has played baseball in Vienna most of his life.  He was a Little League 9-10 and 11-12 year old all-star and led the Twins to the League Championship his 12 year old year.  He played Vienna Babe Ruth for three years as an all-star. Following his freshman season, Chris played for the NVFBL Senators in the fall and they won their Division. Last summer, Chris pitched for the Vienna Mustangs in the Old Dominion League and in the National High School Championship Tournament. Chris pitched two strong games in the National Tournament helping the Mustangs to finish in the top 8. He also pitched well for the Mustangs this fall.

As a freshman at Madison, Chris was a pitcher for the District Champion Warhawks JV team.   As a sophomore he was a key member of the Warhawks varsity staff last season. He often came out of the bullpen and did not allow a run until his seventh appearance. Chris started the Northern Region Championship game on the mound for the Warhawks in their win over Robinson. He earned Honorable Mention All-Liberty District as a sophomore. Chris returns with lots of experience for what should be an excellent junior season.

Chris' thoughts on the Season: "We've got some young talent.  If we blend in, we'll have the potential to do something great."

Coach Gjormand on Chris: "Chris returns for his second season at the varsity level after a very promising sophomore season. Chris saw some important innings last season for us on the mound. The most memorable was his performance against Robinson as he started the Regional Championship game and gave us four quality innings. Chris has great mound presence and is very smart on the mound. He knows how to get people out. He is in command of three pitches, with a change-up that will 'screw-up' a hitter's timing for a month. As Chris has worked incredibly hard to add to his frame, I am excited to see him pick up velocity on his fast ball. Chris follows a cast of tough competitive kids on the mound for us. He is out of that same mold. I expect him to come in with great confidence after a strong finish for us last year. This kid could be special."
