Ryan grew up playing baseball in Vienna.  He played for the Colts in Vienna Little League and played three years for the Vienna Babe Ruth league where he was an all-star.  Ryan also played travel baseball for the Hawks and was a member of the Division winning Senators in the fall of his junior year.  After his sophomore season, Ryan traveled abroad and played for the USA team in the People to People tournament with Australia and New Zealand. Last summer and fall Ryan played for The Vienna Mustangs in The Old Dominion League and in the National High School Tournament in Louisville, KY. Ryan had a good summer season behind the plate and had a good tournament including hitting a home run against Ballard High School of Louisville.

At Madison, Ryan played as a catcher and DH for the District Champion JV Warhawks during his sophomore and freshman seasons.  Ryan was a captain of the JV Warhawks as a sophomore. Ryan was a catcher backing up All-Met Player of the Year Matt Foley last season.  He also appeared as a DH.  As a pinch hitter Ryan was 3 for 4 with two triples during his junior Varsity season.  He returns ready for a big senior season.

Ryan's thoughts on the Season: "We have worked hard all off-season. Now it is time to show how hard we work during the season!  "

Coach Gjormand on Ryan: "Ryan will be competing for the starting job with three other catchers including senior Evan Corrothers. Ryan is a big strong, athletic catcher with a big arm.  At the plate, Ryan has worked to become a consistent hitter to all fields. Ryan is a young man of great character who we expect to get great leadership from in this, his final season of Warhawk Baseball."
