Alex began playing baseball in Vienna as a five year old. He played in the Mets organization in Little League and was an all-star. Alex has played for the Vienna Mustangs 13 and 15 year old teams the past two years and is an excellent receiver as a catcher. He played for the NVFBL Senators last fall. He is a smart player and the younger brother of former Warhawks player Chas.

He joins the varsity Warhawks as a freshman catcher and has already impressed the coaches and veteran pitchers with his skills behind the plate. Alex should be a Warhawks contributor for many years.

Alex's  thoughts on the Season: "With our deep pitching staff, solid defense and great hitting, we will be back in Richmond."

Coach Gjormand on Alex: "Alex is  one of three freshmen on this year's varsity team. He also is a younger brother of a former Warhawk and 'grew up' watching Warhawks Baseball. Alex follows in a long line of talented catchers at Madison. He has a lot of similarities to recent All-Met Player of the Year and All-State Catcher, Matt Foley, who is now playing at Virginia Tech. Alex is a great receiver behind the plate and has improved his release time dramatically to go with an already developing arm. Defensively, he does not catch like a freshman. He has worked as hard as any player in our program over the past year and is showing promise at the plate already. As he learns to adjust and lead at the varsity level, this kid has a very bright future and could contribute this year."
