Warhawks Drop Opener to Eustis, FL Panthers 3-0 Monday March 21, 2005 at McCracken Field near Citrus Bowl 10: 00 AM The Madison Warhawks opened their season against the Eustis Panthers coached by former major leaguer Chet Lemmon. The game was a pitchers duel with both teams only allowing the other team 3 hits. Brian Eck pitched 4 innings for Madison allowing 3 runs, striking out 4 batters and walking 2 batters while taking the loss on the hill. Jason Farley pitched 2 shut out innings of relief for the Warhawks. Mark Riffee, Arman Moniri and Joe Canova had the Warhawks hits. The Warhawks pitching and defense was excellent but Madison made several base running mistakes and did not produce enough offense. See Detailed Game Summary on the 2005 Game Summary Page.

Warhawks Defeat Tallahassee Godby 8-4 Tuesday March 22, 2005 at McCracken Field near Citrus Bowl 10: 00 AM
The Madison Warhawks defeated the Cougars of Tallahassee Godby HS, FL 8 to 4 for their first win of the season. Chris Sterbenz picked up the win as the starting pitcher with four innings of work allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts, 1 walk and 2 hit batsmen. Mark Riffee pitched the final 3 innings for the save. Jason Farley was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Josh Carter had an RBI double, Brian Smith a pinch-hit RBI triple and Arman Moniri had 2 RBIs with a clutch pinch hit single. The Warhawks played all but one player (tomorrow's starting pitcher was held out as an emergency replacement player) with each contributing to the win. The Warhawks overcame sloppy play and mistakes to grab their first win of the season. They will play the Grenadiers of Colonial HS Orlando,FL Thursday at Tinker Field next to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. See Detailed Game Summary on the Game Summary Page

Wednesday March 23, 2005 Due to rain and thunderstorms in Orlando today, the tournament schedule has changed. Madison will play Colonial FL on Thursday. The players went to the Universal Studios Theme Park today.

Warhawks Defeat Colonial HS of Orlando FL 3-2
Thursday March 24, 2005 at Tinker Field near Citrus Bowl 1:00 PM The Warhawks came from behind to defeat a good Grenadier team from Colonial HS in Orlando 3-2. With the win, Madison advances to the Consolation Championship game. Andrew Eck pitched four good innings in his first start, striking out three and walking one while surrendering two runs. Sterling Sams picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief and Brian Eck recorded the save with two strike outs in one inning of relief. The defense was excellent with Mark Riffee and Arman Moniri each making several excellent plays. Josh Carter led the offense going 2 for 2 with an RBI double and a walk. Alex Andrews had the game winning RBI hit. Arman Moniri, Mark Riffee and Rich Conlon also contributed to the attack. See Detailed Game Summary on the Game Summary Page

Warhawks Drop Close Game 3-2 to Boone HS of Orlando in Consolation Championship Game
Friday March 25, 2005 at Tinker Field near Citrus Bowl 1:00 PM The Madison Warhawks jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and committed three errors and surrendered three runs in the bottom of the first inning today at Tinker Field in Orlando, FL. After the first inning, both teams played well and pitched well as there was no more scoring in the Consolation Championship game against the nationally ranked Boone Braves of Orlando FL 3-2. The Warhawks finished the tournament with a 2-2 record. The Warhawks and Oakton each had a rainout game in this tournament and have agreed to have a tournament make-up game April 9, 2005 at 2PM at Madison.
The Warhawks return home Saturday after a good week in Florida.
