| Sunday April 4, 2004 The Warhawks participated in Opening Ceremonies at Hanihan High School. Johnny Ayers represented Madison in the home run derby. The Warhawks then participated in a Barbeque for players and coaches. The Game Schedule has been updated on the 2004 Schedule and Scores Page.

Warhawks Defeat Fillmore, NY 12-2 Monday April 5, 2004 at Hanahan HS in South Carolina 5:15 PM Matt Riffee struck out nine batters and the Warhawks offense exploded to beat Fillmore by the ten run rule. The Warhawksoffense was led by Johnny Ayers (3 for 4 with a triple and double), Chris Wimmer ( 2 for 3), Mark Riffee (2 for 3), Brian Eck (2 run home run) and Evan Corrothers (2 for 2). Matt Riffee (RBI single), Joseph Canova, Josh Carter, Arman Moniri and Jason Farley (2 run game clinching double) also contributed to the attack. Warhawks Defeat Bishop England of South Carolina 5-0 Tuesday April 6, 2004 The Madison Warhawks defeated the defending South Carolina State Champions 5 -0 at their field in the HIT Tournament. Freshman Jason Farley made a brilliant varsity pitching debut allowing only one hit with five strikeouts and three walks in four innings of pitching. Senior John Asman allowed no hits in two shut out innings and senior Johnny Ayers made his pitching debut by shutting out the Bishops in the seventh inning allowing only one hit and recording a strikeout. The Madison defense played its best game and supported the pitchers making every play and allowing no errors. The Warhawks offense produced five runs on six hits with six walks. Chris Wimmer and Johnny Ayers had two hits each while Matt Riffee and Joe Canova had a hit and a walk each. Nick Tomasetti scored two runs after walking twice. The Warhawks play North Charleston Wednesday night at Bishop England HS.

Warhawks Win 9-2 over North Charleston, South Carolina Wednesday April 7, 2004
The Madison Warhawks advanced to the quarterfinal of the Hanahan Invitational Tournament in South Carolina with a 9-1 win over the North Charleston Cougars. Brian Eck pitched six shutout innings for the win scattering three hits and recording five strikeouts. Andrew Eck pitched well closing the game in the seventh inning with two strikeouts, two walks and one run allowed. Chris Wimmer (3 for 4 with a home run), Johnny Ayers (3 for 4 with two doubles), Nick Tomasetti (2 for 4), Matt Riffee (2 for 3) and Evan Corrothers (2 for 4) led the Warhawks attack. Madison will play Gonzaga in the playoffsof the tournament at noon at Hanahan HS in South Carolina. The Warhawks are seeded as the number one overall seed based upon bracket play. There is a forecast for rain and thunderstorms in the area for Thursday so game times could be changed. We will post game any game time changes if any.

Warhawks Down Gonzaga Eagles 8-1 Friday April 9, 2004 noon Madison defeated Gonzaga behind the pitching of Matt Riffee who pitched 5 innings with 6 strikeouts for the win. John Asman pitched two shutout innings in relief to close the game. The Warhawks offense was led by Mark Riffee (homerun and double), Johnny Ayers(2 for 4 with a double), Chris Wimmer(2 for 4, 3 RBIs) and Arman Moniri (homerun and 2 RBIs).

Warhawks Defeat Flanagan of Florida 7-5 Madison Was Undefeated in South Carolina Tournament Three Warhawks Named to HIT All-Tourney Team
Madison defeated Flanagan Friday evening (late) 7-5. Flanagan is a 6A school with 5500 students in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. The team scrapped to win the game and go undefeated in the Hanahan Invitational Tournament in South Carolina. Johnny Ayers, Matt Riffee and Chris Wimmer were all named to the HIT All-Tournament Team. |
